This theater, named after the Italian queen Margherita (1851-1926), is housed in a building designed by the architect A. Barbera. It was completed in 1873 and inaugurated in 1875. In the pre-World War II years it functioned primarily an opera theater (the first production was Giuseppe Verdi's Macbeth), but in the 1940s it was closed for renovations and then reopened as a cinema. In 1970, the Teatro Regina Margherita was completely restored, and now it offers shows of all kinds.
