The origins of Gamla Ullevi go back to 1916 when it was first inaugurated. However, around eight decades later, this stadium was demolished only to be rebuilt without affecting its large seating capacity. Today this stadium serves as a home ground for around three football clubs, namely Örgryte IS, Gothenburg Athletics & Sports Association and IFK Göteborg. Despite of several controversies doing rounds, this 18000 seat stadium has managed to acquire prominence and though it does not enjoy full attendance for matches played here, it certainly has a commendable number of fans thronging in to support their favorite teams.
