Built in 1606 by the illustrious Sir Roderick Mackenzie from the Earls of Cromartie family, Castle Leod impresses visitors with its walls that are very thick. This family lived here for well over 5 centuries and never let the house fall into ruins. Renovated and extended at various points of time over the centuries, the castle grew larger and more prominent, attracting the attention of tourists. Concerts are sometimes held here against the lovely backdrop of the stately grounds. Private tours can be arranged by prior appointment so call ahead for those.
