The Heiligengeistfeld is an open space which lies between the Reeperbahn and the Wallanlagen. It gets its name from the Heiligengeist hospital, whose grounds it was once part of. Since 1899 it has, however, been the location of most festivals in Hamburg: The Hamburger Dom takes place here, which is one of Germany's biggest public festivals. A bunker from the Second World War can be seen at the north side of the field, which is today used as a creative-center and a studio facility for artists. The Wilhelm-Koch-Stadium, home ground of football club St.Pauli, is also located here.
