James Rhodes Arena situated on the campus of The University of Akron is a state-of-the-art basketball arena that plays host to the home matches of university's basketball team, Akron Zips. Both men's and women's basketball team of the university practices and plays competitive matches at this very arena. Opened in 1983, this arena is named after the former governor of Ohio for two separate terms. Apart from the world-class playing surface and comfortable seating area, James Rhodes Arena features team locker rooms, team lounges and a state-of-the-art gymnasium for the conditioning of athletes.
