If you are fascinated with old structures and beautiful buildings then, you will be enchanted with Christchurch Priory Church. Situated just a few miles from the city center, the town borrowed its name from the church. Historians assert that the construction of the church began in 1094 by Ranulf Flambard. One of the best conserved churches in England, it is replete with carvings, tombs and beautiful glass windows. Most carvings depict a story either from the Bible or are abstract. You will see some stunning artistry in the interiors of the church. The grand church has some beautiful arches, altar and towers. The Jesse screen behind the altar is carved across an entire wall. The Shelly memorial made of marble, is strikingly beautiful. While the Lady Chapel is beautifully constructed, there is a museum above it known as St. Michael Loft's Museum. It dates back to the 15th Century and now stores some important artifacts. The church is overwhelmingly beautiful and should be on your itinerary. Wear your walking shoes to this spectacular wonder, as an hour will not suffice. Donations are accepted.
