Renovated recently in 2005, the Wankdorf Stadium was replaced by the Stade de Suisse as part of a CHF 350million project to make it a world class venue for the 2008 European Championships. Home to the football club BSC Young Boys, the Stade de Suisse is the second largest sports stadium in the country with an artificial turf. With a seating capacity of around 32,000 spectators this stadium has excellent training facilities, a state of the art media center, used as an event center. Most notable here is the "red chair" which is the first seat to be laid in the stadium. Over the years, the stadium has hosted national as well as international soccer fixtures. The stadium also houses a museum and a business center.
