Located just a block away from the famous Obelisk of Plaza de la Republica, this grand theater has quite a history dating back to the 1872. When it was first built, the theater was part of a project to bring culture to the city center of Buenos Aires. In 1935, this original structure had to be demolished in order to widen Avenida Corrientes. This new structure, which still stands today has a capacity for 2500 spectators and is host to various live stage shows and even has a large screen for films. Today, it is a little bit of Broadway in the center of Buenos Aires, being a favorite venue for large scale musical productions. The basement is host to a number of film screenings and cultural events. Call toll free number 800 444 6464 for more information
