District is a famous live music entertainment venue in Liverpool that has in the past played host to performances by artists such as Neil Finn of Crowded House fame, Baaba Maal, Billy Bragg and Thomas Mapfumo. The venue was originally called Picket and shut down in April 2004 as it had to be sold to developers. The new Picket opened in 2006 and moved to Jordan street, but has also since shut down, eventually reopening as District.
