Although Dalhousie University was originally established in 1818, it suffered early financial trouble and did not hold its first class until decades later in 1838. It is now considered one of the premier higher-learning institutions in Canada and has graduated a Nobel Prize winner, two Canadian Prime Ministers, and several Rhodes Scholars. Dalhousie University has campuses across Halifax, as well as one in Bible Hill and a teaching hospital in New Brunswick. Visitors to the main campus should not miss the renowned Killam Memorial Library, the largest academic library in Atlantic Canada.
