Housed inside the Eastman School of Music, the Eastman Theatre is a performance space. This magnificent 3094 seat theatre was originally built by George Eastman to promote dance, music and acting. The students of the school use this space to showcase their talents. Over the years they have shared the stage with some of the world's best artists, including Leonard Slatkin, Sir Georg Solti, Christoph von Dohnányi, Igor Stravinsky, Krzysztof Penderecki, John Williams and Bob Brookmeyer. The Eastman Opera Theatre presents fully staged operatic productions in the Spring. It also is the principal hall for the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra.
