The Royal Theatre began in 1913 as a roadhouse, and was used shortly thereafter as a cinema until 1981. It has since been renovated both inside and out to transform it into the facility that it is today. Victoria Symphony and Pacific Opera Victoria performances can be enjoyed here. This venue can house up to 1,416 audience members. Host to a wide variety of performances, the Royal Theatre showcases art at its best and in the past, has accommodated such greats as Sarah Bernhardt, National Ballet of Canada, Mikhail Baryshnikov and Luciano Pavarotti.
