In 1938 when the grounds of Sutton Hoo were excavated, the 90 foot ship burial of an Anglo-Saxon king was dug up and was declared a great find in England. Among the findings were gold, silver, iconic helmets and other treasures. Today, visitors can learn about the jewels and fortune and why the burial hadn't been discovered in 1300 years. The estate is perfect for long walks, hikes and is a popular spot for bird watching. Sutton Hoo is one of Britain's most important archaeological sites and is historical for it's role in the nation's crossover to Christianity. This is surely not to be missed, especially if impressive rituals are of interest.
