The Hungry Brain and the thoughts of a dive bar should be synonymous, except with more artsy customers. Along with this place being a dive bar come both the good and the bad aspects of such establishments. The confined space of The Hungry Brain makes the bar fill with smoke easily. When jazz bands play on Sunday nights, talking becomes near impossible. But the local feel, the friendly service, and the great atmosphere all contribute to making this one of the most intimate and welcoming bars in Chicago. Despite being out of the way of most touristy areas, Hungry Brain is a great place to drink and socialize.
