There is no better place in Newport to watch a movie and feel as though you have just stepped into an old fashioned nickelodeon. This quaint downtown theater manages to keep its unassuming spot among busy nearby shops and restaurants. The Jane Pickens Theatre is host to the independent and foreign films you would find in New York's Greenwich Village, and is one of the hosts for the annual JVC Jazz Festival. The one screen theater has erratic show times and sometimes absent ticket takers, but the freshly made popcorn and large, worn seats create an ambience that make every movie pleasurable.
