'Ego Patricius', 'I am Patrick', is the subtitle of this new interactive multi-media visitor attraction in Downpatrick dedicated to Ireland's patron saint. Patrick first landed in this area to begin his ministry in Ireland and Down Cathedral is also home to his grave. The Saint Patrick Centre tells the story of this most enigmatic of characters in his own words and investigates his extraordinary legacy, including the impact which Ireland's monks made on Europe in the Dark Ages, as they traveled from country to country re-introducing Christianity. The center also includes an Internet cafe, restaurant, tourist information center and a craft shop, and is well worth visiting if you're touring the lovely Strangford area.
