Edion Stadium Hiroshima is the home ground of Hiroshima's professional J-League soccer club, Sanfrecce. This stadium opened its door to the public in 1992 and since then has been one of the best and most popular stadiums in the city. Soccer fans in the city visit in large numbers during the home matches of Sanfrecce Hiroshima to support the local team. Edion Stadium Hiroshima has played host to the 1992 Asia Cup in which Japan won their first ever major trophy. Apart from the excellent soccer pitch, this stadium is also home to world-class tennis courts.
