The Niederdeutsche Bühne is nicely situated at Wilhelmplatz and has good road links. The plays staged here are of a typical northern German nature, which does not mean that you will see the typical blonde northerner perform, but this quality mainly applies to the language. The local accent Plattdeutsch, or lower German, is spoken on stage. It is not always easy to understand, but if you enjoy listening to the dialect and if you like a dry, northern German humour, you will certainly have a good laugh here. The actors are an ensemble of amateurs, which gives the performances a special personal touch. Another good reason to pay the theater a visit, which seats about 200 people and is mainly frequented by an older audience.
