Bonn's oldest private theater was first opened on 20th May 1950 with a performance of Shakespeare's 'Hamlet'. The aim of Contra-Kreis Theater was to create a connection between spectators and actors so that the public can get a closer look into the art of acting. A main interest of the theater is the support of new talent. The theater has developed a national reputation and has become an essential part of Bonn's cultural scene. The most varied pieces, from Shakespeare to Aristotle, are performed here.
