Gostner Hoftheater

The Gostner Hoftheater, whose company can look back on a 20 year history, is the city's leading venue for alternative theatre. Housed in a toy factory's former production rooms, it is today a favorite with the city's culture brigade. The productions that form part of the privately-run theatre program are usually either newly-interpreted pieces from the world of classical theatre or contemporary plays. The in-house actors put on up to five plays a year, with guest pieces forming the balance of the yearly event's calender. One positive aspect of this set up is that new talent has the chance to gain valuable experience. Cabaret performances, literary events and the like are also held here. The cozy Loft, which is the theater's bar is also very popular. Throughout the year, exhibitions take place here, as do Jazz concerts.
