The Nissan Stadium or the International Stadium Yokohama as it is also called, is a huge stadium built to comfortably accommodate over 70,000 spectators. Environmentally friendly, the stadium's power is supplied by surplus electricity from a city-operated waste incineration plant. Recycled wastewater and rainwater form a major part of the water supply for air-conditioning and heating, toilets, and natural grass sprinkler system. Two giant screens, nine meters high and 19 meters wide, ensure that everyone gets a good view. Apart from sporting events, the stadium also hosts concerts and cultural events.
