Many visit the Gawsworth Hall, a 15th Century black-and-white half-timbered hall in summer, for the popular open air theatre performances. These range from Shakespeare and opera to brass band concerts and are held in the pleasant setting of the hall grounds. Formerly home to the Fitton's, the estate was fought over in a famous duel in 1712, where Lord Mohun and the Duke of Hamilton both were killed. Today the home of the Richard family, the Hall serves as a perfect venue for various social and cultural events. Gawsworth Hall also features a food and drink option on its premises called the Orchard Room. Opening dates vary, kindly check the website for details.
