Bunratty Folk Park offers a glimpse of an entirely different era and an opportunity to experience Irish life circa 1900. The setting is a rural village at a time without electricity or telephones, when modern advances had never been dreamt of. Wander around the whitewashed and thatched farmhouses, the blacksmith's forge, the weaver's shed, the drapery shop, the old schoolhouse and a host of other shops and services, which have now largely vanished. This park embodies a realistic sense of how Irish people lived in the past. Witness an existence characterized by open turf fires and the wanderings of animals and fowl throughout the village. A tearoom provides refreshments during the day, but the village is equally alive at night, when you can soak up the atmosphere of the local bars.
