The Chicago Architecture Center (CAC) is on a mission to inspire people to discover why design matters. Formerly known as the Chicago Architecture Foundation, this nonprofit cultural organization offers a variety of public programs and tours, including the highly-rated docent-led architecture cruise along the Chicago River. The CAC also boasts exhibition and conference space, as well as a scale model of downtown Chicago. Founded in 1966 to save the historic Glessner House, the CAC has expanded to offer around 85 different tours of the city, all led by trained volunteer docents who complete a rigorous 14-week training course before being certified. From the Chicago Board of Trade to the Rookery and beyond, the CAC offers fascinating insight into the Windy City's iconic architecture. Don't miss Open House Chicago, the city's largest annual architecture event, hosted by the CAC.
