With trees and surrounded by distant, snow-capped mountains, Feldkirch is a unique, border town between Austria and Switzerland. The medieval old town which sprang into existence sometime in the 12th century is still intact with attractions like Schattenburg Castle, which stands proudly on a promontory and watches over the beautiful town, Ruins of Tosters which is another hillside castle near the town, and several privately owned grand villas built in the 19th century. While the history buffs may be fascinated by this, nature lovers should not miss out on the Feldkirch Wildpark, where unique local wildlife reside like fallow deer, Ibex (a kind of mountain goat), Red deer, wolves and a lot more.
