Set on a lake of the same name, Coeur d'Alene is North Idaho's largest city. Over the years, the city has grown into a prime tourist spot in the region, with much of its tourist-centric activities centering around the lake. The city is also a coveted spot for outdoor recreational activities, especially skiing, as is evident from the many ski areas and trails that get busy as winter sets in. Besides being an outdoorsy city, Coeur d'Alene can also be experienced through its vibrant downtown area, where shopping, entertainment and dining establishments dot the streets.
