400 East 1st Street, Chandler, OK, United States, 74834
Housed in the Chandler Armory, a gorgeous art deco building that was built in 1937 and added to the U.S National Register of Historic Places in 1992, the Route 66 Interpretive Center allows visitors to learn more about the story behind the construction of the highway. Made of red sandstone, and boasting of French fixture, the building was the base of numerous artilleries, battalions and infantry divisions before turning into the museum of history of Route 66 that it is now. Besides browsing through the physical exhibits, one can also enjoy watching light and sound installations that make one feel like they are in a car cruising down the actual highway. If you want to learn more about the construction and fascinating history of this iconic route, then the Route 66 Interpretive Center is the place to be.
