The Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum showcases a vast variety of quilts, exploring historical traditions, evolving themes, and emerging trends in quilting. Born of a love for this age old art form, the museum is a tribute to the unflagging generosity of local resident, Eugenia Mitchell, whose personal collection forms the core of the museum and her vision, its spirit. The museum's permanent collection consists of over 550 quilts, the oldest of which date back to the early 1800s, showcased alongside contemporary art quilts. The museum is also home to the Sandra Dallas Library - a volunteer run repository of books, pamphlets, DVDs and other articles that offer a wide variety of information about the art of quilting. Various temporary exhibitions and educational programs are hosted at the museum, adding to an already intriguing offer. Local artwork and quilt themed gifts are available at the museum gift shop.
