305 Cedar Street, Oak Avenue, Aurora, IL, United States, 60506
William Tanner House Museum is a two storied brick house build during the year 1857. House to hardware merchant William A Tanner, the structure is constructed in the shape of a Latin Cross and currently serves as a platform to display the life in Aurora during the 18th century through relics and artifacts. The first floor consists of a parlor, dining room, music room and a library while the second floor consists of the bedrooms. The Italian architecture is very prominent with high ceilings, magnificent plaster decorations and woodwork. The superannuated furnishings completely adds to the aura of this Victorian period house. The house was donated to the Aurora Historical society by the Tanner family in 1936 and was registered under the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. The admission is free for everyone and they provide guided tours every Wednesday and Sunday.
