Built in the early 19th Century the Missouri State Penitentiary is one of the oldest structures in the city. It operated as a prison for 168 years and later replaced by the Jefferson City Correctional Center. A few of the famous inmates include names such as Kate Richards O'Hare, Emma Goldman, James Earl Ray and a few others. Over the years the prison has seen many deaths due to the riots and brawls. Today it is operated as a part museum where various tours like history tour, ghost tour and investigation tour are offered. Do book a tour with your friends to know more about the history and stories surrounding the prison.
