Built inside the former OCBC Bank Building, the Urbanscapes House is a hub of arts and culture. For three weeks during the course of the Urbanscapes Festival, the venue comes alive, hosting a delightful melange of art exhibitions, pop-up markets, food stalls, workshops, film screenings and more. The building itself is a thing of beauty, renown for the Art Deco design of its double-fronted facade. Located at the Old Market Square, or Medan Pasar as it is locally known, the building was constructed in 1937-38 upon the designs of the architect, Arthur Oakley Coltman, and remains a much revered example of historic architecture that harkens to the day when the Market Square of the city's banking and commercial hub. Now home to the Urbanscapes House, this historic building pulses to the beat of the city's vibrant cultural scene.
