Located by Lake Constance at Staad, Market Hall Altenrhein, or locally known as Markthalle Altenrhein is one of the most marvelous architectural projects in Saint Gallen. Conceptualized by Friedensreich Hundertwasser, the features of the buildings include gilded golden onion shaped towers, bright and vibrant colors, uneven floors and windows, shady walkways, colorful ceramic pillars and green roofs. Hundertwasser wanted to create a place free of monotony by eliminating uniformity, anonymity and sterility. In the premises you shall find a bistro that serves good snacks and meals, a gallery that features Hundertwasser's graphic works (posters, postcards, prints, calendars, etc.) and a store too.
