Sandwiched between Fair Park's Cotton Bowl and the Perot Museum of Nature and Science, Leonhardt Lagoon is a pristine spot amid a busy city. Though the lagoon was created in the year 1936, it underwent an extensive overhaul in the 1980s. In the year 1986, two arresting snakelike sculptures were introduced to the lagoon. Placed like a bridge, these steel and gunite objects add to the lagoon's scenic appeal. The lagoon also serves as the starting point for the Leonhardt Lagoon Nature Walk. It features informative boards describing the aquatic life, plants, insects and birds that reside in and around the lake waters.
