Initially built in the 1920s as the Municipal Grant Park Stadium, Soldier Field was renamed to honor American soldiers who lost their lives in combat. It went through a major re-haul in 2002 and dons a futuristic avatar that's said to resemble a giant spaceship. Its glass and steel facade gleams, overlooking the shores of Lake Michigan. The home of the Chicago Bears, it has hosted NFL playoffs, hockey, rugby and some major soccer matches. It is also a popular choice for concerts and leading musicians have performed here.
