The Historical Museum of Infantry was established in 1959, located in a three-story art nouveau building. The exhibits are in chronological order, spanning 35 halls and 5 galleries. It consists of weapons and paraphernalia associated with war, including uniforms and flags. Relics, pottery shards, documents, reliefs, sculptures and paintings pertaining to the infantry, from classical times to the unification of Italy, the World Wars and the War of Liberation. The plastic model of the battle of the 202 BC battle of Zama involving the Romans and the lifelike reproduction of a World War I trench are the main draw and do not disappoint. The first floor houses the War Memorial.
