Spread across 216 acres (111.6 hectares) where more than 500 species live and play in naturalistic habitats, Brookfield Zoo is a haven of wild and wonderful animals. Reverberating with the prowls and pleasant cries of gorillas, bears, tigers and tapirs, the zoo features a tapestry of ecosystems including swamps, rainforests, savanna and more. Also notable at the zoo is an array of exhibits which lend deep insights into the nature and characteristics of the mammals residing there. A wonderful adornment to the park is the jubilant Roosevelt Fountain, the pristine plumes of which paint a serene picture. Fringed by refreshing, verdant greens, the zoo has been home to some much famed and iconic creatures like Ziggy the elephant, Olga the walrus and Cookie the Cockatoo.
