Guru Nanak Gurupurab, also known as Guru Nanak Jayanti, is one of the holiest days in Sikhism, and is observed by followers all over the world. It celebrates the birth of the first Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak Dev with early morning processions, singing of hymns, recital of scriptures and a special community lunch at Gurdwaras (Sikh places of worship). Some Gurdwaras also organize evening and night prayer sessions.
