When a band defies categorization of any single genre it's typically a good thing. Artists that are able to show their range as musicians typically evolve and help the music scene move into new and exciting sonic areas. Hooverphonic is one of these bands. When the Belgian group first started making music in 1995 they were categorized as a trip-hop group, but as the group started spending more time together (both in the studio and on stage) the band morphed into somewhat of an electropop group. Hooverphonic's ability to incorporate elements of electronic music into a rock song structure has helped the band push itself and venture into new territory that produces interesting results.
