Synopsis of Ships in the Night

Omar – 23, gay, and Palestinian – is new to Toronto and getting a foothold in the dating scene. His friends, supportive but opinionated, are eager to hear about his date with Isaac. But, as he retells the story of their first date, revelations lead them to interrupt the reenactment. Omar and Isaac have a lot in common — a religious upbringing, conservative parents, and a geopolitical conflict. As they navigate the uncertain terrain of their time together, Omar and his friends question whether a Palestinian Muslim and an Israeli Jew can end up together, what it means to be a settler, and the dynamics of the Occupation… all told through the prism of young adult humour.
