El Día de la Revolucion (Revolution Day) is a national holiday that commemorates the start of the Mexican Revolution on November 20th, 1910. Lasting for ten years, the revolution was in response to the oppressive regime of Porfirio Diaz who had been running the country for decades. Parades, fireworks and civic celebrations are held across the country. Most businesses close for the day.
