Barcelona-based DJ John Talabot crafts droney and psychedelic tracks of deep house that have been earning him a reputation as an up-and-coming electronic producer. The Permanent Vacation-signed artist has emerged in Spain's house music scene thanks in part to his willingness to interject the genre with an eclectic set of genre touchstones. Weaved throughout Talabot's steady bass pulses and restrained keyboard work are a number of soul, jazz, flamenco and world music influences that lend a lively, off-the-cuff feel to the songs that can often be lacking in the sometimes sterile nature of electronic dance music. His 2009 single, "Sunshine," was moderately successful, earning "Best New Music" status from Pitchfork and spawning remix versions from Delorean and Blondes.
