A summer rock festival in the heart of the city, Tammerfest always gathers thousands of rock-oriented people from near and far. Especially young people think of this as the number one music festival in the city. As far as performing acts and venues are concerned, Tammerfest has always shown great versatility. Usually top Finnish bands serve as the most effective crowd magnets but the festival also features a few high-quality foreign artists. The performances take place in more than 20 different locations, including the best clubs in town, several restaurants, some hotels and a big outdoor stage. There are always a few concerts free of charge, and the Children's Own Tammerfest provides the youngest ones in the family with fun and interesting things to see and do.
