The Backstreet Boys is a boy band that was formed in 1993. Its members, Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, A. J. McLean, Brian Littrell and Kevin Richardson, were selected from a massive audition and the band released its first single, "Quit Playing Games (With my Heart)" in 1997. The band's self-titled debut album was released soon after. In 2006, Kevin Richardson left the band to pursue a solo career and the other members continued as a four-piece.
