Lysistrata is a classical Greek comedy penned by Aristophanes. The play first graced the stage in 411 BCE. Set amid a seemingly unending Peloponnesian war between Athens and Sparta, the play is a hilarious account of how one woman comes up with a plan to end the war and achieve peace. She rallies other women to join her in her endeavors and suggests that each and every one of them should withhold sexual privileges from their husbands in order to make them desperate enough to peacefully negotiate and end the war.
