Joe Louis is, and has been, one of the prominent flag bearers of the West Coast blues scene. Raised in San Francisco, Walker was exposed to a number of jazz greats like John Lee Hooker, Buddy Miles and Otis Rush at an early age and these artists undoubtedly left a strong impression on him. While he was still honing his approach to guitar playing, Walker played with a good amount of well known musicians who let the young guitar player study under them. When he felt comfortable enough, Walker launched his own solo career and it was met with much respect amid the inner circle of West Coast blues musicians. Walker's still at it and his blues tunes are as tasteful and infallible as they ever have been.
