Formed by the heavily tattooed twins Joel and Benji Madden, Good Charlotte came to fruition in 1996 when its band members combined the earnest punk rock of Green Day and the puerile pop-punk of Blink 182. Though the group played a good deal of local shows in its native Maryland and released an eponymous debut album in 2000, it wasn't until 2002 with the single "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous," that the group received its big break. The accompanying album went triple platinum and shot the pop-punkers to mainstream fame, which continues to this day.
