So, you wanna be a stand-up comedian? Or have you tried to pursue stand-up comedy, but it wasn't what you thought? Do you want honest feedback on your jokes? This three hour workshop is designed for aspiring stand-ups of all levels. Learn the biz of stand-up comedy and learn how to prepare your open mic set or make an open mic set even better. Students will hear from Sara on her lessons learned, learn some writing exercises & tricks of the trade for a set, and test out their open mic set or jokes in front of their peers while receiving honest, constructive feedback.

Sara Armour started her comedy career in 2011 in DC and was runner-up as DCs funniest comedian in 2013 (DC City Paper). She then moved to NYC and her star has been fast-rising ever since. Sara has appeared on NBCs Last Comic Standing, was runner-up in NYs Funniest - now airing on STARZ, and can be heard on Dan Savages Hot Mic and Sounds Like America on Sara was a regular on the Humor Me: Betches of Comedy tour sponsored by and has been featured in the New Yorker, New York Times, NY Post, Washington Post, Elle Magazine, and more. Sara has been called undeniable by Caroline Hirsch, founder Carolines on Broadway where she is a club regular, and she hosts popular NYC Comedy staples, WEEP (@weepcomedy) every Wednesday, and Live at the Barbershop every Saturday. She will be headlining our Stand Up Silver Spring shows on Saturday night 8/24 (the night before our class).
