Turns out the "Monster Mash" is not the only "graveyard smash" worth dancing too, thanks to the bone-rattling -- and foot-tapping -- selections of "Danses Macabres: An American Halloween". The spirit of dance hovers over this Halloween-themed, all-American concert from the Seattle Philharmonic Orchestra. In addition to Aaron Copland's ballet score to "Rodeo", the concert features a suite from Bernard Herrmann's dance-infused, Oscar-winning score to "The Devil and Daniel Webster", the world première of music director Adam Stern's "Spirits of the Dead" (after Edgar Allan Poe), and a new take on Morton Gould's "Tap Dance Concerto" featuring a masquerading soloist. So get caught up in the mystery and fun when Benaroya Hall falls under the sway of "Danses Macabres".
