Join us for an evening of acoustic music in friendly, alcohol free, listening venue featuring Michael Corbett and friends Michael Corbett is known as the lead singer of Seldom Sober and (formerly) the Savannah Ceili Band, but tonight he'll be leaving Irish music behind and singing mostly American songs for the evening. The first set will be rare solo performance featuring songs written by Bob Dylan, Woody Guthrie, Dar Williams, et al. Michael will be performing many of these songs on stage for the first time. A native of Boston, Michael began playing guitar in college after being inspired at a Clancy Brothers concert, then started performing professionally in 1995. In the early days he was mentored by local folk musicians as well as the legendary Liam Clancy and Clancy’s nephew Robbie O'Connell. Though initially inspired by Irish music, Michael was heavily influenced by Pete Seeger, Bill Staines, and other American acts. Double bass player Johnnie Kennedy will join Michael on stage.For the second set, Michael will be joined by fiddler, Colleen Settle, aka the band Seldom Sober. Colleen and Michael have been performing together since 2006. Colleen hails from the New York area and moved to Savannah in 2006. She began playing Irish music professionally in 1978 and was a protégé of notable New York area fiddlers Maureen Glynn and Rose Flanagan. Tonight, Seldom Sober will set the Irish music aside and will perform selections by Simon & Garfunkel, Willie Nelson, John Prine, Johnny Cash, and others.
