Matanza

When the Brazilian band Matanza was formed in 1996, the members originally waned to blend fairly mellow county music, the likes of Johnny Cash, with more hopped-up hardcore rock music to create an easily identifiable and characteristic style that people would connect with. The group released its demo in 1998 and after the band kicked around South America, touring and trying to bolster its image, the group recorded its first full-fledged studio album, which was released in 2002. Though the group's unique "country core" sound might not provide the group with surmountable critical and commercial success, the band has an unmistakable sound that's palatable for fans of hardcore country, and many of the band's songs are undoubtedly worthy of repeated listens.
